This is a picture of the #1 and #3 (assuming I have Mopar numbering correct) pistons in my dad’s 193k mile 2005 Chrysler 300C. They look pretty good!

And here is a picture of the #5 cylinder:

It looks very, very bad. That’s what a dropped valve seat does at idle in roughly 2 seconds.

He’s decided to move on from the car, since fixing it is going to run about $3200, which is probably right around what the car would be worth if he fixed it. I believe he’s found a buyer at around $1300, which is sad, because this car is IMMACULATE. Would have been nice if it would have made it until next year, when he was planning to replace it anyway.

My datsun 210 dropped a valve seat, it put a hole through the piston. Incredibly the car ran for over 600 miles before it got so bad that it decided to start puking oil out of the carb. After pulling the head and seeing the damage I abandoned it in Idaho Falls ID, 500 miles from home.

Probably a 2012 300C he's looking at at Carmax. He really liked the ‘05, so it makes sense.
